2009 Jury

Andrew Ashton was born in Sydney Australia in 1969 and studied in Randwick Graphic Design School. In 2003 he founded Studio Pip and Co. His clients include Australian Paper, Chamber Music Australia, Computershare, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Moonlight Cinema and Spicers Paper. Along with commercial projects, he produces an array of studio publications and paper products, periodically teaches design and volunteers time and work for a range of cultural and industry organisations. He is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).

Farida El Gazzar was born in 1975 in Alexandria, Egypt and is an artist (painter/illustrator)  based in Athens Greece. She studied at the Royal College of Art, Kingston University and Vakalo School of Art & Design.
She illustrates for newspaper and magazines (Kathimerini, Gynaika,Taxidia) and DOL (Lambrakis Press S.A.) publications. She has also collaborated with the Greek Ministry of Environment, ATHENS 2004, Hayford & Rhodes, London National Theatre, Timeout Athens and many more. She has exhibited in group and solo shows in Athens, London, Cairo, and Bahrain. In 2009 she has been invited as an artist-in-residence at the Townhouse Gallery, Cairo and at the Al Riwaq Gallery, Bahrain.

Fernando Gutierrez founded Studio of Fernando Gutiérrez in Hampstead London.
He started his own studio after leaving Pentagram London, in 2006, where he was a partner. He’s probably most recognized for his work with Spanish National newspaper El Pais, the leading literary and photography magazine Matador and Benetton’s Colors magazine. ‘The Studio of Fernando Gutierrez’ has completed projects for the Prado Museum, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Design Museum, Helly Nahmad Gallery in London and The Garage – Centre for Contemporary Culture Moscow. He is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) and a regular on judging panels for international design and photography awards.

Giannis Kouroudis was born in 1962 in Soufli, Northeaster Greece and studied Graphic Design and Photography in TEI Athens. He has designed the sports pictograms for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, ATHENS 2004. He manages the creative agency K2 design with clients Korres Natural Products, Geniki Bank, Goulandri Natural History Museum and many more. His work has been awarded in the European Design Awards, EVGE – Greek Graphic Design and Illustration Awards (2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), EPICA Awards and ERMIS Awards. In 2002, K2 Design received the Grand EVGE award.

Dimitris Papazoglou was born in Athens in 1976 and studied Visual Communications, specializing in Typographic Design. In 2000 he founded in Thessaloniki the company Manographik, winning in 2004 the Grand EVGE (Greek Graphic Design and Illustration Awards). In 2006 with Dimitris Koliadimas they found designersunited.gr, a design group with clients such as the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, the Euroleague Basketball, Eleftherotypia and Macedonia newspapers and many more. designersunited.gr have received many awards in the European Design Awards and EBGE (2005, 2006, 2007). In 2007 they received the Grand EVGE award.

Bettina Schulz was born in 1974 in Munich and has been editor-in-chief of the international journal novum World of Graphic Design since 2001. She joined the editorial staff of the magazine in 1994. She also works as a freelance writer and editor for national and international magazines and for a range of clients in different sectors. She has taken part on a number of design juries (e.g. red dot communication design award, the European Design Awards, the Best of Corporate Publishing Award, MfG competition - Bundesverband Druck, Monaco de Luxe Packaging Award, Canon Pro Fashional Award, Adobe Photoshop Award, twice-yearly diploma awards presentation at the U5 Academy) and is co-founder of the "Creative Paper Conference" (www.creative-paper.de) in Munich.

Alexandros Psychoulis was born in 1966 in Volos. He studied Graphic Design in TEI Athens and graduated from the Athens School of Fine Art. In 1997 he represented Greece at the Venice Biennale where his work Black Box won the Benesse Award. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions Athens, Thessaloniki, Beijing, Tokyo, Madrid, Warsaw etc. He is a lecturer of “Art and Technology” at the University of Thessaly.
